Combined temperature and salt-spray validation for airborne electronics
A research institute (anonymised) · North China · 2025-09
Background
The institute runs environmental qualification for airborne electronic assemblies and needed to cover the temperature, damp-heat and salt-fog items of GJB 150A in one laboratory, with the measurement uncertainty documentation the programme requires.
Solution
Temperature-humidity chambers covering −70 to +150 °C and 20–98 %RH, plus a salt-spray chamber running 5 % NaCl at 35 °C. Both were delivered with calibration certificates traceable to national standards and with the uniformity survey reports needed for the qualification dossier.
Implementation and validation
Acceptance testing covered nine-point uniformity surveys at three set points, humidity verification, and a full salt-fog run. All results fell inside the GJB 150A tolerance bands, and the documentation was accepted by the programme reviewer without follow-up.
Outcome
Three test items that previously required external facilities are now run in-house, shortening the qualification cycle and keeping test records under the institute's own control.
- HR-TH series temperature-humidity chamber
- Salt-spray corrosion chamber
